Why use Remote access?

Remote access is a way for people to connect to there companies network. It is made to make available to people who want to expand there business within distance and, who wants to access there companies network or files from a far away distance.

What are the levels of remote access?

The levels of remote access are, firstly remote users can access e-mail through a company's Internet e-mail account. Secondly, a business can access solutions to their network by adding a remote access and accessing information.

How does remote access work?

Remote access works by accessing through two types of communication services. A Client
Side allows dial-up networking and the Server Side can reside in offices and varies in many ways.

Lesson 7' As Your Company Grows

What factors should you consider before expanding a network?

Some factors you should consider before expanding a network is, that when your business grows your networks need to grown along with it. You will also need to make more space available for your equipment and staff holders.

What type of equipment is available to expand a networks capabilities?

Some equipment that is available to expand a networks capabilities are NICs which help control communication from one pc to another. Also there are peripheral services, file servers, routers and hubs.

Lesson 8: Pulling it All Together

What factors should you consider when designing a network?

Some factors that you should consider when designing a network is, sharing your networks with others. You should be able to share your files and applications, copy and send files, share an internet connection and connect with other co-workers. Moreover, you should consider sharing your equipments. When designing a network every aspect of communication applies when creating your very own business.

Why do you think packets are broken up into smaller pieces when traveling over the Internet?

Packets are broken up into smaller pieces when traveling over the Internet because it allows the person who you are sending the message to, to be able to receive the full message in an easier way. This is because when sending the whole message without it being divided can cause the message to not send correctly to the person whom you are sending it to, and not only that but it can cross over the Internet slowly.

Watch "How the Internet Works in 5 Minutes" & "World Wide Web in Plain English" Write an essay that answers the questions. What is the Internet? What makes the Web work? How are packets delivered using IP addresses and Web browsers?

The Internet is a wire that is actually buried into the ground, the wire however can be made from fiberoptic's or copper which can occasionally beam through satellites and also cellphone networks. The internet is a very useful source and it allows more than one computer too connect to the server at multiple times.

Its quite interesting how the web works. Actually, from what I have just learned is that each server or internet address holds its on IP address that allows you too search the web and identify the search engine that you are looking for or just a website. Now, what also allows the computer to work is that, the computers that we use daily is not a server therefore, it doesn't connect directly too the internet. The computers we use daily are called clients since it is indirectly connected to the internet service provider.

Packets are delivered using IP addresses and web browsers by, commuting with each other through there IP codes. When information is transmitted to its sender it is broken into little pieces of information called packets which allows us to send and receive e-mails and picture messages

Lesson 1:The Big Picture

What do computer networks do?
Computer Networks work together to share knowledge. The most basic things that the networks do is help share information or there resources to help equip each other. Secondly they share equipment, thirdly the networks share accessibility and the Internet. Furthermore, computer networks are able to benefit from the networked office. They share files and applications which can help them gain important informations. They also copy and send files, evenmore they share an internet connection and they are programed to communicate with co-workers.
What are the 3 types of networks?
Three types of networks are considered to be LANs, WANs and the Internet. LANs are a great advantage for networking because they are made up of nodes.LANs and WANs are private networks they are able to be a powerful source for businesses and home Internet connection.

Lesson 2' Do You Need A Network

How can a network improve business productivity and help businesses stay competitive?
A network can improve business productivity and help businesses stay competitive in many ways. Firstly networking facilitate higher productivity within businesses. Networks can improve business productivity by having the advantage of using more than three computers that share one printer or fax machine. Businesses need to say competitive in order to flourish and grow. You can help businesses stay competitive by increasing sophistication of software applications and by also increasing dependence on the network by everyone in your organization.
What requirements can a network can fulfill?
Some requirements that a network can fulfill with the increased productivity is sharing a printer, sharing one Internet Connection. Also, they can share files and programs and lastly remote access. A network will always need to improve communication skills and shared equipment in order for business requirements to succeed.

Lesson 3' A Basic Network

What is a sneaker network?
A sneaker network is a network when you transfer information from one computer to the next. This can easily be completed by using a flash drive, magnetic tape, floppy disk and so on.
What is a peer-to-peer network?
A peer-to-peer network is a network that is commonly equal. This network can share files with other computers, and it can even share devices and software applications.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of a peer-to-peer network?
The advantages of a peer-to-peer network is that it if one peer-to-peer computer malfunctions or acts up, the other computers will not be affected by that one computer. Another advantage, is that on some folders you can enable a password protection so that all your confidential data is not displayed to other peer-to-peer network users. A disadvantage of a peer-to-peer network is that any user on the network can access files stored on the other computers.

Lesson 4' Client/Server Networks

What is a client/server network?
A client/server network can be easily defined as a server that serves files and data to the client computers over the network. This requires its own operating system.
What the criteria is for having a client/server network?
The criteria for having a client/server network is requiring a server and a network operating system. Other criteria such as, software applications, and databases can be added and stored from the server. If the server ever malfunctions, the entire network will be greatly affected. These are just a few things to consider with a client/server network.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of a client/server network?

Some advantages and disadvantages of a client/server network is that many files can be stored in a single location which will disable problems later and it archives dependable results for the back up networks. A disadvantage of this is that if the server breaks the network is destroyed for good. Also, the connection to the network allows other people too view all files listed.

Lesson 5: How Fast Can a Network Work?

What is Ethernet?

Ethernet is a way for connecting computer workstations in a network. It tells you how to build a network and tells you what kind of cables to use. In the Ethernet information travels through a network.

How does Ethernet work?

In a Ethernet information goes to computers once at a time, if too many computers or whatever devices are asking for something from the Ethernet then it will slow down. The thing is, the Ethernet does this very fast.

How fast can Ethernet go?

It depends on the internet bandwidth which determine the amount of speed that travels. There are two types of Ethernet speeds, they are 10 megabits per second and 100 megabits per second.

What do you think are the dangers of connecting your computer or computer device to the Internet?

I think the danger's of computers are that there's a lot of good and bad things about it and can cause people to be in danger of there life. You can get yourself in trouble if you don't use it responsible.
